Instead of picking one, I'll just admit that I always had plans of writing about this super fun vacation, but simply never did. haha
Over Memorial Day, the Boyfriend wanted to take me to one of his favorite, little known, towns in Nevada. It's called Jarbidge. No, not bridge - bidge. What's a Jarbidge? I have no idea, but they did have bumper stickers all over town asking that question, without any apparent answer available. It drove this lawyer crazy. It took us several hours to get there and was worth every minute. Can I just say that I love Road Trips with the Boyfriend? We always have so much fun!
We ate amazing home cooking and a copious amount, each, of homemade ice cream, in cones.
We made a stop at the jail that was open in the 1800s.
We rode the four wheeler all over town, and up into the hills.
The weather decided to show us all four seasons with some rain, snow and sun at different points each day. I think I wore about 5 different outfits over the two days.zero cell phone or internet service. If you needed to reach someone there you called the town pay phone or the motel. Not everyone had a landline, and only about half had a satellite for TV or internet. People just enjoyed each other there. They related. They connected. We made several new "friends" and got to know a bunch of different people who waved to us from the street every time we rode past on our four wheeler. Once we walked past the truck to find a note inviting us to join some people at a nearby hot springs!
It literally felt like a scene from a movie set in the 1950's. I loved it!
I forgot to get a fishing license ahead of time, so the Boyfriend fished while I took pictures of the gorgeous scenery. He didn't have much luck in the river portions through town, but on the way out we stopped at a honey hole. He couldn't catch them fast enough!
I guess I'll have to settle for a weekend jaunt every so often, and maybe we'll run into our new friends while we're there!
Have you ever taken a risky vacation to a place you had never been? Did you ever disconnect for an entire weekend? Tell me about it in the comments!
